Responsibilities

岗位职责：
Work on VINS research projects, including data collection, cleaning, analysis, and writing reports. 参与上海纽约大学波动研究所的研究项目，协助研究所完成相关的科研工作，包括数据搜集分析处理及撰写研究报告。
Participate in joint research projects between VINS and other financial institutions/schools. 参与上海纽约大学波动研究所与其他金融机构和高校的各项研究工作。
Assist Executive Director on academic research studies, including literature review, data procession and analysis, etc. 协助研究所执行所长完成各项学术研究工作，包括撰写文献综述，数据处理和分析等。
Help VINS host conferences and workshops. 协助研究所主办承办各项学术会议和研讨会。
Any addictional responsibilities related to institue resources and activities that fall under the purview of the research associate. 其他与职位相关的工作。


Job Requirements

Required Education 教育资格
Recent Ph.D./ABD from top Chinese universities in Finance/Statistics/Economics. 近年获得国内外一流大学金融学、统计学或经济学博士学位。
Required Knoledges, Skills, and Abilities 其他技术能力要求
Genuinely interested in research. Capable of executing research projects with little supervision. 对科研有浓厚兴趣，能独立承担研究项目。
Having a proven ability to use sophisticated econometric tools to analyze complex financial data on large scale. 能够熟练运用各种数据分析工具，有对大规模数据进行分析处理的能力。
Be able to conduct research and write research papers/reports in both English and Mandarin Chinese with a high level of fluency.能够熟练应用中英文进行学术论文和报告的写作。
Strong backgrounds in finance and statistics. 在金融和数据处理上有丰富的经验。
Be familiar with Chinese financial markets. 熟悉中国金融市场。

The position begins in the fall semester of 2016, but the ideal condidate is preferred to start an internship with VINS before officially employed as the full-time research associate.

The Volatility Institute at NYU Shanghai will operate inclose partnership with the Volatility Institute at the New York University Stern School of Business, which is under the direction of Nobel Laureate and volatility expert Robert Engle. One of the research tools of the Volatility Institute is the Volatility Lab (V-Lab), which provides real-time measurement, modeling and forecasting of financial volatility, correlations, and risk for awide spectrum of assets. V-Lab blends together both classic models as well as some of the latest advances proposed in financial econometrics literature.
